The challenge

Bramble & Oak buys timber, hardware and finishes from dozens of suppliers, often paid for on the spot. Receipts ended up in pockets, glove boxes and a coffee can.

At month-end, Tom Bramwell and his office manager spent eight days rebuilding the picture from faded paper and bank statements.

The solution

Makers now photograph receipts at the counter and Lumen Ledger reads, categorizes and attaches them to the right transaction. Larger purchases go to Tom for a quick approval.

Bank reconciliation runs in the background, so by the end of the month there is little left to do except review.

In their words

The coffee can is retired. Everything is captured the moment it is bought, and our accountant tells me it is the cleanest set of books she has seen from a workshop.
